Pre-school music Division

Children’s music education is based on the belief that every child is musical; and music nurtures a child’s cognitive, emotional, social, language and physical development.  At the Yip’s Children’s Choral & Performing Arts Centre, it is not our goal to produce accomplished professional musicians. Rather, we aspire to give children the most amusing and nurturing learning environment in which children can be stimulated intellectually and refined temperamentally.  Our classes are therefore suitable for children of all backgrounds and interests.

P- CPS: Preparatory Pre-school Music Course - (Ages 2 to 3)

To stimulate toddler’s musical and rhythmic sense and to inspire their creativity in all aspects through music, this course puts into practice Dr. Yip’s philosophy of “Learning is Playing, Playing is Learning”. This course also prepares toddlers for Yip’s Preparatory Choir (CPS).

CPS: Preparatory Choir Course - (Ages 3 to 5)

Through various musical games, this class teaches quality children’s songs, intonation, music theory, rhythm, Yip’s Hand Signs, music appreciation and introduction to musical instruments. It gives children a solid and well-rounded foundation.

This class attends to different needs and interests of its students. Besides musical abilities, social, logic and analytical skills are fostered as well. Through amusing and interactive games, children will learn quality children’s songs, intonation, music theory, rhythm, music appreciation and percussion instruments.

Preparatory Choir classes are divided into 8 levels according to age and course progression. Each class contains 12 weekly sessions making a quarter three months long. Upon completion of a quarter, a student can take an assessment test.  With satisfactory scores, students will be promoted to a higher level and receive a certificate. When a child reaches 5 and has completed Level 8 with passing test scores, she or he can join the Primary Choir, Preparatory Musical Theater (by invitation only) and / or any of the instrumental classes.

Students of the Preparatory Choir have the opportunity to perform on stage every year. This enables them to develop their self-confidence and implement what they have learnt.
